Happiness Happens Podcast Interview https://randihalaway.com/happiness-happens-podcast-interview/ https://randihalaway.com/happiness-happens-podcast-interview/#respond Wed, 21 Aug 2024 18:53:19 +0000 https://randihalaway.com/?p=1656 [This episode was published on the Happiness Happens podcast with the following show notes:]

We’re all on a unique journey in life, striving to become the best version of ourselves. One of the key catalysts in that journey is truly understanding who we are and embodying our most authentic self. In this week’s episode of the Happiness Happens podcast, I’m joined by Randi Halaway, a Self love and Business Coach for women who are READY to step into their highest level of mastery and claim more freedom, abundance, and fulfillment in their lives. Our talk revolves around the importance of self-love, mastering a heart-centered life, and reconnecting with our true selves.

The conversation opened with Randi emphasizing the power of feeling inspired, aligned, and tuned in to your unique purpose and potential on this earth. As she explained, self-love plays a vital role in self-discovery and personal growth. By loving and accepting ourselves, we can break through limiting beliefs and blocks that prevent us from expressing our true nature.

Randi also shared her personal journey, including her shift from a 17-year career as a hairstylist to becoming a champion for women, empowering them to step into their highest level of mastery and claim more freedom, abundance, and fulfillment in their lives.

Our interaction with others can often lead us to stray from our path, particularly when we start absorbing their emotions or problems. Sharing her insights, Randi emphasized the need for balance between having an open heart and not taking on more than what is meant for us. Whether it’s someone else’s emotion or issues, recognizing it and if it’s not for us, releasing it with love can help us reclaim our power.

We also touched on the importance of remaining connected with our inner peace, especially in a world that can often be chaotic and overpowering. Randi’s words about everything happening in our outer world ultimately being a reflection of our inner world resonated strongly. By nourishing our inner peace, we can reduce the impact of external factors on our happiness.

Navigating the interplay between ego and our past traumas can be challenging, but it is crucial in fostering self-love and understanding. Randi delved into how our egos, which are designed to protect us, can sometimes lead us to create illusions of control and safety.

By recognizing these patterns and leaning into our intuition, we can free ourselves from these constraints and open up to a more heart-based and authentic understanding of ourselves. This shift in perspective can lead to experiencing a deeper connection to our true selves.

To embrace a heart-centered life, Randi stresses the need for making ourselves a priority and grounding our intentions in our hearts rather than our minds. By releasing the need for external validation and focusing on providing it for ourselves, we can manifest a life that aligns with our true selves.

The journey towards a heart-centered and authentic life is a continuous one, filled with moments of self-discovery, growth, and transformation. As Randi poignantly stated, “The idea is learning how to navigate the uncomfort of being out of control, the uncomfort of the unknown all those types of things.”

In the episode, we get into:

  • 2:34 What does happiness mean to you

  • 3:45 How to balance living with an open heart while not taking on what isn’t meant for you

  • 7:13 Learning to release something without having to go through extensive practices

  • 11:10 Our need for control

  • 13:47 What does it feel like when you have a deep connection to self

  • 17:32 Wanting people’s acceptance of your choices and how they understand from the lens of their past experiences

  • 20:59 The idea of being who you truly are

  • 23:47 Are Ego and Trauma cohabitants, the more trauma the higher the ego?

  • 26:40 Where do you go from the place of feeling like you’re doing the wrong thing because of someone else’s reaction

  • 2:46 How to create a little more happiness in your day, every day, starting today

How to Stop Victim Mentality and Taking Things Personally https://randihalaway.com/how-to-stop-victim-mentality-and-taking-things-personally/ https://randihalaway.com/how-to-stop-victim-mentality-and-taking-things-personally/#respond Wed, 31 Aug 2022 20:56:02 +0000 https://randihalaway.com/?p=1622 There is so much in life that we can’t control. We can’t control the weather, the economy, and we definitely can’t control other people and their actions/reactions.

Oftentimes it can feel like a sh*t pile of negativity is piling up on top of us and it can be a challenge to rise above that and grow. It’s so much easier to take it personally and blame someone else for what’s happening.

But the problem with taking things personally is that you never get out of the trap of ‘why me’ and you stay locked into a victim mentality.

Here’s the thing – and I say this with love – everything isn’t about us.

When we think that everyone is judging us, or everyone is attacking us or everyone is focusing on us and what we’re doing “wrong” – this is all victim mentality. It’s coming from your ego as a way to keep you committed to creating chaos and drama rather than coming from the part of you that wants you to slow down, receive what you need, and grow through the experience.

Here’s the real truth when it comes to taking things personally:

It’s not actually personal at all!

How people respond or react has so much more to do with what they have going on internally vs having anything to do with you.

How we show up outwardly is a direct reflection of how we feel about ourselves internally.

When you understand this at a deep level, it helps cultivate so much compassion for where the other person is at – and this immediately takes you out of victim mode and into your highest self because you can clearly see that their reaction isn’t about you AT ALL.

A mantra that always helps me remain grounded in my truth, not take things personally, and lead with compassion is: hurt people hurt people. This helps me fall more into compassion for the other person and myself.

And just to be clear – having compassion and understanding for someone’s actions doesn’t mean you have to continue to have a relationship with this person in your life. It’s simply an opportunity for you to not take their reaction personally, grow from the experience, and set healthy boundaries for yourself going forward.

Noticing when you’re taking things personally is an important first step to heal and step out of victim mentality and grow from the experience.

Once you notice that you’re taking something personally, here’s the process that I use to grow.

Step 1: Immediately stop making it about the other person and take personal responsibility for your emotions.

Step 2: Take a deep breath, look within, and ask yourself: “what within me is being triggered by this person or experience?”

This step can be challenging, especially in the moment if you’re super activated. I’m a huge fan of calming essential oils to bring me back to a calm, centered place when I’m triggered in the moment. I really love this one. You can take a deep breath right into the bottle, put a couple drops on the bottoms of your feet, or diffuse it in the room and then look within and ask yourself the question above.

Step 3: Ask yourself: “What am I looking for from this person or experience?”

Step 4: Ask yourself: “What can I learn about myself from this experience?”

Asking yourself these questions will help you take your power back, let go of taking it personally, and grow through the experience by learning about yourself, your needs, and how to take care of yourself in a healthy way when you’re triggered emotionally.

An amazing book that helped me personally step out of victim mentality and stop taking things personally is The Universe Has Your Back by Gabby Bernstein. This book explains so well how the people, experiences, and events in our lives that trigger us are divinely guided ‘assignments’ from the Universe to help us heal from our traumas and grow from them.

If you enjoyed reading this blog, I highly recommend that book to take your learning in this area to a deeper level. It’s an easy read and it will help you connect to your heart and grow in really beautiful ways.

Life is one big magical playground, and when you learn how to stop taking things personally, flowing with life’s inevitable challenges becomes so much easier, and life becomes way more fun.

How to Squash the Fear of Missing Out For Good https://randihalaway.com/how-to-squash-the-fear-of-missing-out-for-good/ https://randihalaway.com/how-to-squash-the-fear-of-missing-out-for-good/#respond Mon, 08 Aug 2022 20:46:14 +0000 https://randihalaway.com/?p=1598 Ohhh the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) – we’ve all been there! On the surface, having FOMO doesn’t seem like it’s that big of a deal. I mean, who doesn’t want to enjoy life and have more fun experiences? Who wouldn’t be a little sad if they missed out on something awesome?

But the thing is, when FOMO starts to cause anxiety or bring on feelings of insecurity over the fear of missing out on something – whether that ‘something’ is a job, a date, an opportunity, or simply a night out – it’s actually something to look into because it’s affecting your quality of life.

FOMO is taking you out of the present moment and into a BS, future-tripping story that there’s always something better than what’s happening right now

Here’s the thing love, all FOMO stems from the ego. Always.

It’s a distraction created by the ego to keep you looking into the future, constantly seeking external validation and approval, and feeling overwhelmed and confused about your choices.

This is a lot of pressure and I want to let you know that there’s no such thing as a ‘perfect choice’. There are just choices and the meaning we place on that choice is all a matter of perspective.

To help you squash FOMO for good, I want to invite you into a new perspective.

What if instead of constantly worrying about making the right choice, you adopted the mindset that whatever you do choose is the perfect choice?

This way, it’s impossible to be missing out on something, because you’re always exactly where you’re meant to be.

All – and I mean ALL – of your power exists in the present moment. It doesn’t exist in the past. And it definitely doesn’t exist in the future.

You have all the power right here, right now, in this moment.

The key to no longer letting FOMO run your life is to trust that you’re exactly where you’re meant to be and you’re doing it exactly right.

This is so much easier said than done because many of us struggle with trusting ourselves.

But we really do hold all the answers inside of us, we just have to get quiet enough to listen and reconnect with our intuition.

Your intuition is your inner guidance system and when you’re connected to your intuition, you can easily discern what things to say yes to and what things to pass on.

And when you’re saying yes to the things that light you up and saying no to the things that don’t, you’re naturally having more fun, are happy in the moment, and you can officially say #byefelicia to FOMO!

One of the most powerful ways to connect to your intuition is through a daily self-care practice. I wrote a whole blog on my intentional self-care practice that you can read here

Another tool to help you drop out of your head and into your intuition is to journal. If you’re new around here, I’m a little journal obsessed! It’s my favorite way to separate from the ego thoughts and tap into my inner guidance system. I’m absolutely loving this journal. It’s cute, easy to write in, and really helps me organize and process my thoughts. You can grab my free journal prompts to help you get started here.

Journaling is key to helping you reconnect to the deep level of trust that you have with yourself. And I love using this smude spray set to reconnect to the deep level of trust that I have with the Universe.

Smudge sprays are an amazing tool to clear out negative energy and invite in a new perspective. You can do a couple sprays in your area before journaling and ask Spirit, the Universe, God – whatever spiritual power works for you – to help you to reconnect to your own inner guidance system. Take a deep breath, inhale the fresh perspective, and start writing from your heart or use these free prompts.

My hope is that you remember that you are always experiencing exactly what you’re meant to. Even if you feel like you “missed out” on something, trust that you gained something too. If things aren’t unfolding the way you like, there’s always some lesson or higher perspective to receive. It’s all happening exactly as it’s meant to and it’s an invitation for you to step deeper and more fully into trusting yourself and the higher loving plan for you.
